The building envelope is the physical separator between the conditioned and unconditioned environment of a building and comprises the roof, sub floor, exterior doors, windows and exterior wall, which together provide resistance to air, water, heat, light, and noise transfer.
Huntsman provides a wide array of innovative solutions which enhance the integrity of the building envelope.
Energy efficiency in buildings begins with the building envelope. A ‘tight’ building envelope prevents air, moisture and noise infiltration, leads to reduced energy usage and lower utility costs. MDI-based polyurethane insulation is the most effective insulant available in the market, with the highest thermal resistance (R-values) at a given thickness and the lowest thermal conductivity. It is widely used in roofs, walls, floors and ceiling cavities, as well as in building exterior applications, in both new and retrofit construction projects.
Our ARALDITE® epoxy resins and ARADUR ® curing agents are used by flooring formulators for: primers on green concrete or other unprepared surfaces with a fast return to service; conductive epoxy layers to safely dissipate the electrostatic potential and prevent damage to equipment and personnel; decorative, non-yellowing topcoats, providing both esthetics and performance.
Our non-added formaldehyde medium density fiberboard (MDF) is widely used in flooring and doors. We produce roofing membranes and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU films) for glazing applications
